Cardiovascular (CV) disease is the leading cause of non-communicable disease related mortality and morbidity throughout the world. Nepal is no exception. Both urban as well as rural areas are quickly becoming breeding grounds for cardiovascular diseases. In addition to incorrigible genetic predispositions in certain minorities, generalized attraction to sedentary lifestyle and occupations has led to an exponential rise of risk factors like systemic hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity, type A personality, habitual intake of junk foods, environmental pollution, smoking and alcohol abuse.
Chitwan is one of the 77 districts of Nepal with area 2,238.39 km2 (864.25 sq mi), and a population of 579,984 (279,087 male and 300,897 female) people. Bharatpur metropolitan city of Chitwan is the largest city of Nepal after Kathmandu. It is also a commercial hub and a major destination for higher education, health care and transportation in Central Nepal.
Considering the rising trend of CV diseases in this region, we decided to open a holistic and dedicated cardiac center “Chitwan Mutu Aspatal” in the heart of Bharatpur. We believe that with this endeavor we will be able to provide accessible care and service to the millions of needy people in Chitwan and neighbouring districts.
Cardiology, as a branch of medical science, has developed by leaps and bounds in recent years. Newer diagnostic modalities have made precise evaluation and diagnosis possible. Interventional and surgical procedures have made a tremendous progress and saved lives of millions who had lost hope of survival. It is now possible to perform certain operations which only twenty years ago were in the realm of science fiction. This development was made possible by immensely devoted investigations about the diseases of heart and blood vessels which take such a heavy toll of life in all age groups. Cardiac catheterization has long equipped the clinician with a unique method of investigation and efficacious treatment. However, non-invasive methods are the modern-day goals-they imply increased sophistication, as they avoid surgical trauma to the patient.
Chitwan Mutu Aspatal is among the very first of its kind to provide super-specialty cardiac care and related diagnostic and therapeutic facilities in the whole of Bagmati Province with the exception of the capital city. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our shareholders and everyone involved in this mission to convert this divine mission into reality. We believe the enthusiastic and dedicated team of our hospital will make significant contributions to the cardiac care of patients in this region. As the years go by, our footprints on this path will remain, and we hope they will lead the way for future destinations in this direction.
